CS 6550 Modern AI Application Development 3.0 Credits
This course explores the principles and practices of building applications with large scale foundational models. Emphasizing modern, industry standard frameworks, it bridges the gap between deep learning theory and practical, job-relevant skills. Topics include core techniques for model implementation and adaptation; methods for fine-tuning and aligning pre-trained models for specialized tasks; prompt design and engineering; agentic application architectures; principles of LLMOps; and ethical/responsible AI considerations. Emphasis is placed on integrating models with external information sources, orchestrating multi-step reasoning, and leveraging model-as-a-service paradigms for rapid prototyping.
