CTCN 6677 Crisis, Trauma, and Community Approaches in Music Therapy 3.0 Credits
This course provides an overview of current theory and approaches for crisis intervention and trauma. This course takes an ecological approach, exploring roles, responsibilities, strategies, and techniques to provide trauma-informed interventions for individuals and groups. Trauma prevention models relevant to the mind-body impact of trauma, as well as systems theories of trauma effects, resilience, trauma recovery, and integrative models will be emphasized. Community music therapy key principles (PREPARE – participatory, resource-oriented, ecological, performative, activist, reflective, and ethics-driven) will be explored as they relate to empowering disenfranchised groups.
