CW 5020 Craft Workshop II: Story Architecture 3.0 Credits
This craft course explores the structural foundations that give stories their power and resonance. Writers will learn how to design compelling scenes – the building blocks of narrative – and how those scenes fit into larger story architecture. Through close reading, discussion and writing exercises, students will examine the interplay of character, conflict and setting as well as strategies for pacing, tension, and transitions across a narrative arc. Students will analyze published works and workshop their own writing to develop a deeper understanding of how scenic and narrative architecture shapes meaning, motion and momentum.
Repeat Status: Not repeatable for credit
Restrictions: Can enroll if major is CW.
