CW 6530 Professional Residency 3.0 Credits

Through workshops, panels, and hands-on-exercises, students will gain practical tools and strategies for building a sustainable literary life. The in-person and remote parts of this course will cover professional development topics such as: Platform Building, Social Media for Authors, Query Roadmap, Pitch Strategies, Agent/Editor/Author Relations, Networking and Literary Citizenship, Bookseller Engagement and Wholistic Career Strategies. There will also be a craft focus. By the end of the course, the students will have developed actionable steps toward publication, as well as a deeper understanding of both the business and artistic dimensions of pursuing the author’s life.
