DSGN 5010 Design Methods: Urban Scale 3.0 Credits

This experiential seminar course will introduce students to design methods related to the city scale of design and scholarship, including policy and civic issues that drive design at all levels. Students will engage in field visits, guest lectures, and in-class project development and discussions around various topics. Students will experience firsthand the aspects of policy at both the local and national level that bear on our systems and the design of those systems. Issues related to community, climate, and urban equity will be examined. Students will engage with subject matter experts to produce case studies, visual and written literature reviews, and creative observational outcomes in this class. Course work will be reviewed by both professionals and scholars in the field of interest.
