DSGN 5020 Advanced Methods: Strategy and New Practices 3.0 Credits

This experiential seminar course will introduce students to design methods related to new design practices including speculative design, biodesign, more than human design, and design futuring. Students will engage in field visits, guest lectures, and in-class project development and discussions around various topics. Students will experience firsthand the future printed and speculative aspects of design at the human scale. Local exhibits may play a role in both the research and outcomes of this course. Students will engage with subject matter experts to produce case studies, visual and written literature reviews, and creative observational outcomes in this class. Course work will be reviewed by both professionals and scholars in the field of interest.
