DSGN 6120 Technology Specialization: Materiality and Analog Making 3.0 Credits
This is a studio course that examines and builds on the students’ core skills in design and making. It aims to continue the development of skills in various handmaking, tectonic, and fabrication arenas. Students will learn shop and small scale hand tool techniques including a variety of materials. Final assessment consists of a project at the scale of the students' choosing that experiments both through materials and techniques in the realm of hand fabrication and craft. This course also includes an interdisciplinary exploration in mechanical elements furniture design, and design-build may play a role in this course. Professionally juried with a final exhibit of work.
