ECE 3471 Foundation of Electromagnetics for ECE 3.0 Credits
This course focuses on physical laws that govern electromagnetic field in a variety of electrical and computer engineering circuits and subsystems. It covers foundations of distributed transmission lines using solution of Telegraphers’ Equations and phasor concepts of voltage and current waves on TEM lines using reflection/transmission, standing waves due to interference, and graphical method of Smith Chart. Vector analysis of electric/magnetic fields due to distributed charges/currents are introduced using point and integral forms of Maxwell’s equations and electromagnetic laws. Impact of electric/magnetic fields on material polarizability/magnetization, scalar/vector potentials, and stored/dissipated electromagnetic energies, are applied to electric and magnetic circuit models.
Repeat Status: Not repeatable for credit
