ECE 6200 Computer Architecture 3.0 Credits

This course covers the principles and practices of modern microprocessor design using quantitative cost/performance analysis. Topics span from fundamental concepts through advanced processor techniques, including RISC-V instruction set architecture, computer arithmetic, single-cycle and pipelined processor design, pipeline hazards and their solutions, and advanced techniques for high-performance computing. Students will analyze performance trade-offs and gain hands-on experience designing processor components using hardware description languages such as Verilog and SystemVerilog. The course bridges foundational computer organization with state-of-the-art processor design techniques used in contemporary high-performance systems.
