ECON 3334 Public Finance 3.0 Credits
This course examines the role of public policy, government expenditures, and taxation in the economy. Students will learn to apply the core principles of economic efficiency and equity to evaluate the conditions under which market failures may justify government intervention in specific markets and to assess the resulting economic consequences of various forms of government intervention. Students will also learn to identify who bears the burden of taxation and analyze the social cost of tax-induced distortions to economic behavior in relation to a wide variety of common tax instruments.
