ECON 3351 Resource and Environmental Economics 3.0 Credits

This course uses dynamic economics by means of dynamic optimization techniques to educate students on three important areas of natural resources and environment economics. 1. Optimal management of exhaustible resources like oil and natural gas. 2. Optimal management of renewable resources like water, trees and fisheries. 3. Sources and benefit/cost analysis of externalities. The students are given numerical assignments related to these areas to solve and find the optimal extraction and of the type of natural resources they are interested in. As an elective, it provides additional depth for interested students. Students will learn to apply key concepts, analyze real-world situations, and communicate evidence-based recommendations.
