ECON 9920 Advanced Macroeconomics I 3.0 Credits
The key objective of this course is to introduce students to dynamic optimization techniques necessary to build macro-models used to assess fundamental macroeconomic issues such as consumption-saving decisions, labor supply, capital accumulation, business cycle fluctuations and pricing of risky/riskless assets. By the end of the course, students should be able to write down and solve a baseline Real Business Cycle (RBC) model, understand its key implications and discuss about policy issues. The course will discuss how to solve stochastic systems of difference equations under the assumption of Rational Expectations.
