EDEX 2000 Inclusive Teaching in the Classroom: Assessment and Instruction 3.0 Credits
This course prepares teacher candidates to address learner variability in inclusive PK–12 classrooms through a tiered system of supports. Candidates examine how disabilities and advanced learning needs affect access to curriculum and participation, as well as legal requirements for referral, evaluation, and assessment practices. The course emphasizes collecting and analyzing classroom data to inform instruction, monitor progress, and guide referral decisions and instructional adjustments. It includes designing and implementing accommodations and modifications aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), actively participating in multidisciplinary team processes, and using equitable, culturally responsive practices that promote access and reduce bias for all learners.
