Students analyze how statutes and court decisions define the rights of students with disabilities and the legal duties of schools, districts, and agencies. The course highlights early dispute-prevention strategies and explores how errors in communication, documentation, implementation, and team decision-making can escalate into complaints or hearings. Through case law analysis, regulatory interpretation, and applied decision scenarios, students learn to read legal signals early, anticipate consequences, and apply IDEA standards with clarity and precision.
