EDU 2100 Teaching in Urban Contexts 3.0 Credits

This course enables students to understand the complex conditions that have led to issues that impact urban education. Specific emphasis will be placed on the students developing a sense of their own cultural biases, developing skills to , the impact of structural racism and other inequities, as well as the knowledge and skills related to teaching in urban settings. This course will introduce historical references for the current condition of urban schools as well as the aspects of teaching that lead to a classroom of respect and rapport for the urban learner and their family.
