EDU 3040 Building a Positive Classroom Environment 3.0 Credits

This course examines traditional and contemporary approaches to classroom management, including constructivist and behavioral theories, with emphasis on creating positive teacher/student relationships and productive learning environments. Using a culturally responsive lens, students will evaluate the effectiveness of management approaches in meeting the needs of all students and establishing respectful learning communities. Students will learn to use measures for analyzing behaviors in the classroom and determining appropriate interventions. Strategies for building home-school partnerships will be explored. Students will construct a professional, research-based classroom management plan that supports a productive learning environment for members of the classroom community.
