EDU 6315 Disciplinary Literacy Grades 7-12 3.0 Credits

This course introduces reading specialist candidates to adolescent language and reading development theories and practice. Students will learn how to address the needs of readers in diverse contexts and develop and implement curricula to meet the specific needs of students who struggle with reading and writing in content areas. Students will learn how to support teachers with planning differentiated instruction and instructional materials, including traditional print, digital and online resources to meet the literacy needs of diverse students in content area classrooms. This course includes fieldwork and clearances are required.
