EDU 6325 Vocabulary and Comprehension Instruction and Intervention 3.0 Credits

This course prepares reading specialists to implement and support vocabulary and comprehension instruction. Candidates will develop expertise in direct and indirect vocabulary teaching, morphology, and explicit comprehension strategy instruction across literal, inferential, and critical levels. Evidence-based interventions will be explored. Emphasis is placed on coaching teachers to facilitate text-based discussions, build background knowledge, integrate assistive technology, and teach metacognitive strategies. This course includes fieldwork and clearances are required.
