EDU 6335 Creating a Literacy Rich Environment for Diverse Learners 3.0 Credits

This course prepares reading specialist candidates to address the developmental needs of all learners by evaluating, selecting, and implementing high-quality, diverse instructional materials. Candidates will examine criteria for choosing multi-modal and print texts, including decodable and culturally responsive literature that reflects students' racial, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds. Taking into consideration learners' physical, social, emotional, cultural, and cognitive factors, students will learn to identify and utilize culturally responsive literacy practices and create inclusive, literacy-rich environments where all students see themselves and others reflected in texts.
