EDU 8610 Qualitative Research Methods 3.0 Credits
This doctoral course introduces qualitative approaches used to study classrooms, organizations, communities, and policy settings. Students examine methods such as interviewing, observation, focus groups, document analysis, and case study design. Attention is given to ethics, researcher positionality, coding, interpretation, and the development of credible findings. Through analysis of published studies, students assess how qualitative methods generate research outcomes that illuminate processes, perspectives, and lived realities often missed by numerical measures alone.
