EDU 8640 Participatory Action Research in Education 3.0 Credits
This course examines participatory action research as an approach to producing knowledge with, rather than about, communities. Students study how educators, families, and youth can serve as co-researchers in identifying issues, gathering evidence, interpreting findings, and taking informed action. Special attention is given to youth participatory research methods that center young people’s expertise and leadership. The course explores ethics, power, collaboration, and cycles of inquiry. Students analyze published studies to evaluate research outcomes and design projects that connect scholarship, practice, and community change.
