EDU 8650 Design-Based Research in Education 3.0 Credits
This doctoral course examines design-based research as an approach to studying and improving learning environments through iterative cycles of design, implementation, analysis, and revision. Students explore how researchers collaborate with practitioners to address problems of practice while generating theory. Attention is given to intervention design, data collection in naturalistic settings, and documenting change over time. Through review of published studies, students assess research outcomes related to learning, implementation, and innovation. The course prepares students to design rigorous studies that connect scholarship with educational improvement.
