ENGR 4998 Capstone Design I 3.0 Credits

This the first course in a two-term senior design sequence in which students initiate a comprehensive engineering project that integrates knowledge and skills from across the curriculum. Students work to identify needs, define problem statements, conduct background research, and develop preliminary design concepts while considering constraints such as economic, environmental, ethical, and societal factors. Emphasis is placed on project planning, communication, and the application of systematic engineering design processes to prepare for detailed design and implementation in the subsequent course.
