ENSS 356 Aspects of Environmental Justice 3.0 Credits
The environmental justice movement started in the 1980s to combat environmental racism in the siting of hazardous facilities. Since then, the idea of “environmental justice” has expanded to encompass myriad issues, ranging from access to energy to the treatment of other species. Other justice movements, such as Indigenous resurgence and the movement for disability justice, have also begun to articulate their goals in relation to the environment and the changing climate. In this course, students will learn about the evolving pursuit of environmental justice through the in-depth study of one contemporary intersection of justice and the environment.
