EOH 5010 Introduction to Urban Health 3.0 Credits
It is estimated that over 50% of the world’s population will live in urban areas with rapid growth in the Global South, presenting both significant challenges and unique opportunities for promoting population health and health equity. This course provides a comprehensive overview of urban health, including its core theories, methodologies, and empirical evidence. An overview will be provided of how the urban built, social, and natural environments shape health outcomes, as well as health policies. The course will examine key urban health challenges, including chronic and infectious diseases, mental health, and injuries. Students will also be introduced to methodologies to evaluate, study and visualize urban health problems.
