EOH 5013 Environment of Care 3.0 Credits
This course will review the role that the healthcare environment has in the transmission of infectious diseases. Students will learn about the importance of maintaining a safe and clean environment through engineering controls, maintenance of air-handling and water systems, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization. Students will learn about specific environmental vectors and vehicles for disease transmission, how to monitor the environment to prevent disease, and how to respond to environmental outbreaks in healthcare. This course provides students with a general understanding of the recognition and evaluation of a variety of workplace hazards, as well as approaches to their prevention and control.
