EPI 5002 Research and Practice in Epidemiology 3.0 Credits
Investigators initiate research studies by developing a research question and writing a proposal that delineates the specific aims, hypotheses, and proposed research methods – a critical step in obtaining funding for most research studies. This course integrates epidemiological methods to enable students to build a range of skills needed to write a proposal. Students will develop a research question and hypothesis, find and review relevant scientific literature, identify an appropriate dataset to use, and plan an analysis that uses relevant variables in the dataset and appropriately addresses the research question. The final product will be a research proposal. With this class, the students are expected to transition from student (instructor-directed learning) to professional (self-directed learning).
