ESCI 3401 Exercise for Clinical Populations 3.0 Credits
This course examines the application of exercise physiology principles for individuals with chronic disease and other clinical conditions. Students study the pathophysiology, functional limitations, and exercise considerations associated with cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, neurological, and musculoskeletal disorders. Emphasis is placed on exercise testing considerations, risk stratification, and evidence-based exercise prescription. Through case studies, applied laboratory activities, and program design exercises, students develop practical skills for evaluating clinical information and designing safe and effective exercise programs for diverse patient populations.
