ESTS 530 Foundations III: Critical Perspectives and Experiences in STEM Education 3.0 Credits

Students will explore the design of both formal and informal STEM learning spaces, focusing on how these environments can foster equitable and inclusive educational experiences. The course emphasizes the integration of design thinking, learning experience design, and the use of physical, virtual, and community spaces to enhance STEM learning. Topics include gender-inclusive pedagogy, environmental design, and place-based learning, as well as the connections between informal and formal STEM spaces. Students will also investigate how learning spaces can be intentionally designed to promote creativity, innovation, and social justice.
