ESTS 582 Community Gardens: Learning in the City 3.0 Credits
Urban Agricultural practices, like community gardening, offers space, place, and opportunity for a variety of STEM learning practices. Community gardens are informal, community-centered, learning environments that connect to peoples’ food sovereignty, neighborhood beautification, and climate change action. In this course, learners will engage with a variety of community garden models and examine the ways they offer intergenerational learning opportunities. Through investigating the social, material, cultural, and spatial practices woven into community gardening across the city, learners will develop critical perspectives on alternative structures for STEM learning.
