ET 2400 Engineering Design and Tolerancing 3.0 Credits
Computer-aided design (CAD) and engineering tolerancing as essential tools in the engineering design and manufacturing process. Students develop the ability to model parts and assemblies, apply dimensional and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and communicate technical design intent through industry-standard engineering drawings and specification documents. Emphasis is placed on identifying societal or industrial needs and developing design solutions through a structured term project that integrates data analysis, CAD/CAE tools, and design-for-manufacturability considerations. By the end of the course, students will be able to create accurate, tolerance-driven designs that support effective manufacturing, inspection, and interdisciplinary communication.
