ET 2440 Fundamentals of Thermo-Fluids Systems 3.0 Credits
Introduces the fundamental principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer as an integrated thermofluid systems framework. Topics in thermodynamics include pressure, temperature, work, heat, and energy analysis of simple systems using the first law of thermodynamics. Fluid mechanics topics include pressure, fluid flow, energy relationships, and applications of Bernoulli’s equation in engineering systems. The course also introduces the basic modes of heat transfer (conduction, convection, and radiation) and their roles in energy transport. Emphasis is placed on physical understanding, problem formulation, and practical engineering applications relevant to mechanical and electrical engineering applications, including thermal management, energy conversion, and fluid-based devices.
