ET 2460 Statics and Kinematic Systems 3.0 Credits
Introduces fundamental principles of statics and dynamics with applications to particles and rigid bodies. Topics include vector analysis, force systems, moments and couples, equilibrium of rigid bodies, Newton’s laws of motion, kinematics, and dynamics of mechanical systems. Students develop free-body diagrams, formulate equilibrium and motion equations, and apply analytical and computational methods—including Gauss–Jordan linear equation solving—to analyze engineering problems. The course also includes kinematic analysis of planar mechanisms such as the four-bar linkage, emphasizing practical mechanical system behavior.
