ET 3120 Measurement Systems and Process Control 3.0 Credits
This course integrates measurement systems theory with statistical process control and quality improvement methodologies for manufacturing and service applications. The course focuses on fundamental concepts of measurement and measurement systems, measurement techniques, causes of errors and error propagation, uncertainty analysis, data collection and analysis using statistical methods, and data acquisition systems. Building on these foundations, students learn to measure and analyze process variation using applied quality control methods including Statistical Process Control (SPC), and continuous quality improvement. The course covers design of experiments (DOE) with emphasis on factorial design, enabling students to design data-driven experiments to reduce waste, improve flow, and optimize processes.
