ET 3410 Fluid Power Systems 4.0 Credits

This course covers applied fluid mechanics and fluid power systems with emphasis on industrial, automation, and manufacturing applications. Students examine fluids in motion using the principles of conservation of mass, energy, and momentum as an integrating framework for analysis. Topics include hydrostatics, fluid flow in pressurized systems with energy additions and losses, and analysis of piping systems and networks addressing laminar and turbulent flow, velocity distribution, and major and minor friction losses. Building on these fundamentals, the course covers fluid power theory, hydraulic and pneumatic components, and fluid power circuit design and analysis. Students apply industry-standard analytical methods to design hydraulic and pneumatic systems for power transmission and control applications.
