ET 4420 Advanced Thermal and Heat Transfer Analysis 4.0 Credits
This course provides applied analysis of thermal-fluid systems with emphasis on Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) applications. Topics include energy and energy transfer analysis of thermal systems, gas and vapor power cycles, psychrometrics and mixing gases, and heat transfer principles. Students analyze energy conversion processes, heat exchangers, and integrated non-reactive thermal-fluid systems. The course covers calculation of heating and cooling loads in accordance with ASHRAE standards, principles of gas compression, and analysis of vapor compression refrigeration systems. Students evaluate the effects of operating conditions and system parameters on performance and efficiency while applying industry-standard analytical methods, design practices, and software tools.
