FASH 3200 Industrial Sewing Fundamentals 3.0 Credits
This course introduces foundational garment construction and basic flat pattern design. Students develop core construction skills through equipment use, machine operation, stitch sampling, and pressing techniques. They then apply these skills to flat pattern design, including sloper creation, measurement, and muslin development for bodices and dresses. Inclusive sizing is explored through demonstrations and market-focused discussions. The course culminates in a final project in which students complete and present a dress incorporating a bodice, skirt, sleeve, and facing components, demonstrating their understanding of both construction and pattern-making in a cohesive design.
