FASH 6909 Fashion Design Collection I 3.0 Credits
In this advanced, penultimate studio course, students take the first major step in defining their individual voice as fashion designers. Through guided exploration and independent inquiry, they articulate a personal design philosophy, expand research strategies, and experiment with innovative materials and techniques. Students are expected to demonstrate a wide range of ideation. Students complete two main projects: the first investigates material, form, and the body through hands-on experimentation; the second develops a self-directed proposal for the senior thesis collection. A detailed design journal documents research, inspiration, and process, culminating in one fully realized prototype that demonstrates conceptual and technical growth.
