GSST 3001 Movements in Feminisms 3.0 Credits

This course explores the dynamics of feminist social movements in the United States and globally. It engages historical and contemporary movements to analyze diverse factors where feminist thinking is actively applied, such as labor, education, cultural production, class, reproductive justice, policing and prisons, and sexuality. The course will explore – with varying degrees of focus – the applied knowledge, theories, methods of indigenous feminisms, black feminisms, chicana feminisms, ecofeminism, and latinx feminisms to examine and respond to a wide berth of structural issues. No prior knowledge of feminisms is required. This course challenges modes of thinking and fosters innovation and intellectual independence to inform future work in any chosen field of inquiry.
