GSST 3026 Ecofeminisms 3.0 Credits
This class begins with the understanding that ecology and conceptualizations of the environment are fundamentally intertwined with notions of race, gender, and sexuality. With this in mind, this class will explore the questions: what are feminist ecologies? And how have feminist thinkers responded to environmental crises through writing, theory, activism, and art? In answering these questions, students will read historical and contemporary writings, both fiction and non-fiction, about climate justice, multi-species knowledge making, land back movements, queer ecologies, and other forms of eco-feminist theory and praxis.
