GSST 3045 Gender and Sexuality in Consumer Culture 3.0 Credits
Consumer culture reflects significant markers of gender and sexual identity. This course explores consumer culture through applied theories and methods from the fields of gender and sexuality studies, queer studies, and feminist studies. It will explore how we participate in consumerism and how we play with different forms of consumer culture. Topics are variable and include topics such as fashion branding, queer game design, and video games, depending on the faculty. Students can expect to engage in a range of scholarly methods that blend autobiography, activism, embodiment, and non-written creative practices. Suitable for students from across disciplines.
