Some have looked to that era with nostalgia, others with amusement, and others with revulsion. Students learn not only about the politics, culture, and economics of medieval European societies, but also how scholars and non-scholars alike have imagined and reimagined the Middle Ages and medieval society for their own purposes over subsequent centuries, right down to the present.
