HIST 2350 Fascism 3.0 Credits
The course explores the history of fascism in the twentieth century across the globe. Nazis and Italian Fascists show up prominently, but students learn about many other fascist movements in Europe, South America, and East Asia. Adding to the traditional approach of political history, the course engages more material dimensions; students study nationalism, authoritarianism, and imperial expansion of different fascist regimes through the lens of food, poetry, energy, sports, or fashion. The aim is to explore critically fascism in history as a totalitarian attempt to forge a violent and repressive world.
