HIST 3100 The Study of Global History 3.0 Credits
The study of Global History explores the interconnected past of both human and non-human societies. The course examines how humans, animals, environments, diseases, plants, technologies, and ideas have interacted across borders to shape the world. Students analyze major themes such as migration and borders, trade networks and commodities, empire, colonialism, and industrialization. Through comparative perspectives and the analysis of primary and secondary sources, the course encourages students to develop critical thinking and historical analysis skills while recognizing patterns of continuity and change, as well to understand the global forces that continue to influence contemporary political, economic, and social issues today.
