HMP 5010 Urban Policies and Health 3.0 Credits
Cities across the globe are grappling with public health challenges as the world urbanizes, problems that require policy solutions. This course offers an introduction to the ways urban policies (environmental, housing, social, transportation, policing, urban planning, etc.) can impact urban health and health inequities. In addition to deepening students’ understanding of pressing urban policy debates, the course will also address challenges in adopting and implementing urban policies, review the methods that can be used to evaluate their health and equity impacts, and practice effective policy communication.
