HSAD 3357 Health Information Systems 3.0 Credits
This introductory course explores health information technology (HIT) and its transformative role in healthcare delivery. Students examine electronic health records (EHRs), digital health, emerging analytic approaches, learning health systems, interoperability and artificial intelligence. The course highlights how HIT supports decision-making, regulatory compliance, and quality care. Students apply these concepts to align technology with healthcare goals in real-world settings, preparing them to adapt to ongoing technological change and improve patient outcomes through effective use of HIT. As an elective, it provides additional depth for interested students. Students will learn to apply key concepts, analyze real-world situations, and communicate evidence-based recommendations.
