HSAD 5530 Health Policy, Politics, and Regulation 3.0 Credits
After discovering the American Ideology from its seminal founding documents, students research and identify a problem and find policy alternatives to current and emerging health issues. Students learn the political circumstances in the policymaking process. The concept of authentic federalism is emphasized, demonstrating the importance of the roles and responsibilities at all levels of the government. Students act an analyst, advisor, and advocate in the policymaking process in all three sectors via robust written assignments. Students recognize the enduring tension between individual liberties and the community’s good. Applying steps in the public policymaking process, students recognize the policy of compliance and the regulatory requirements of healthcare organizations.
