HSCI 4032 Musculoskeletal Pathophysiology 3.0 Credits

This course provides students an opportunity to expand their foundational knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology through the study of diseases, disorders, and injuries affecting the musculoskeletal system. Emphasis is placed on musculoskeletal histology and the biological responses of connective tissues to injury and disease, including inflammation, repair, regeneration, and fibrosis. Students examine the biomechanics of connective tissue and explore the pathogenesis, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation of selected musculoskeletal disorders. It also introduces concepts of epidemiology and risk factors related to these conditions. While clinical management is not a primary focus, students are encouraged to consider how underlying pathology influences prognosis and potential interventions.
