IDPS 4998 Capstone I Applied Research Design and Proposal Development 3.0 Credits

This first course in the undergraduate capstone sequence prepares students to design a meaningful applied research project grounded in academic inquiry and professional relevance. Students identify and refine a focused topic, define a problem or question for investigation, review relevant literature and sources, and develop appropriate research questions, methods, and project parameters. Emphasis is placed on research design, critical analysis, ethical inquiry, and proposal development, including the thoughtful use of digital and AI-supported tools, where appropriate. By the end of the course, students will produce a structured capstone proposal that prepares them to carry their project forward into implementation, analysis, and final presentation in the second capstone course.
