This Practicum is the second part of the Community Dimensions of Medicine course series. It is designed to deepen students’ understanding of the social and cultural factors that influence health outcomes and healthcare delivery. Through a combination of 30 hours of volunteer service at local sites and weekly structured reflection, students will explore the real-world impact of health inequities and develop cultural competence as future health professionals. The curriculum integrates key concepts in public health, social determinants of health, and systemic inequities with hands-on community engagement.
